Energy solutions, built by a team with deep energy expertise
We design, build and scale the software, data and AI systems that run the electricity sector – across networks, retail, distributed energy, flexibility and markets. Our team’s combined experience has resulted in:
Multi-GW
Utility-scale projects worked on across Europe, LATAM and the Middle East
Engineering and operations across the energy value chain.
Our energy team has built virtual power plant management systems, distributed energy orchestration platforms, demand response infrastructure and the market integration layers that connect into some of the most complex and dynamic energy markets in the world.
We’ve worked with energy retailers, asset owners, OEMs and network operators across Australia, Europe and the Americas, running programmes that span wind, solar, batteries, EV charging, demand response and grid services.
Seven years at Origin Energy, including leading Group Strategy and M&A across the energy value chain. A decade prior in investment banking at Rothschild. MIT AI Strategy and Leadership certification.
Around 25 years across Australian energy: NSW renewable-energy policy, distributed-energy systems engineering, and Principal VPP Solutions Engineer at Evergen for nearly five years. Electrical engineer (UNSW) with a PhD in cognitive science. Currently helping blueprint a utility-scale battery portfolio.
Former COO of Evergen, which he helped build and scale across multiple countries before its acquisition by IntelliHub. Built the operational playbook for large-scale fleet orchestration and energy market participation.
Designed and led the architecture of Evergen's platform, including its rebuild onto a new cloud system with a zero-downtime migration and the real-time orchestration behind it. Co-founder of 10x Labs; has led delivery of more than 100 projects across industries and sets the AI and engineering direction for the energy practice.
Former Head of Product at Evergen, owning product strategy across the VPP platform. Nine years prior in payments and financial services. Energy, fintech and a developer's instincts.
Much of our core team came from across Australia's energy sector. At Evergen, the team built and operated virtual power plant orchestration, sub-second frequency response, battery fleet management, demand response at scale and the enterprise integrations that connect these platforms into the broader energy ecosystem.
What we build for energy companies.
Production systems, not advisory decks. We build the technology energy companies need to operate, compete and scale, from the architecture of the data layer through to the integrations and AI that act on it.
Virtual Power Plants
End-to-end platforms for aggregating and orchestrating distributed energy assets such as batteries, solar and EVs into coordinated virtual power plants that participate in energy markets in real time.
AI for Energy
AI integrated into forecasting, dispatch, fault detection and customer-facing products. Eight years of applying machine learning to energy operations, well before the LLM era.
Distributed Energy Orchestration
Fleet management for large numbers of distributed energy resources across energy retailers, asset owners, aggregators and grid operators. Real-time dispatch, monitoring and optimisation at scale.
Demand Response & Frequency Control
Platforms for participating in demand response programmes and frequency control markets. Real-time control built to meet the strict response and reliability requirements of grid services.
EMS & Asset Optimisation
Energy management systems for BESS, PV+BESS, EV chargers and multi-asset portfolios. Forecasting, dispatch optimisation and arbitrage across wholesale and ancillary markets.
Connectivity & Integrations
OEM and market API layers connecting hardware, retailers, market operators and enterprise systems. This is where most implementations get hard and where our team has the deepest scars.
Data Platforms & Analytics
The data layer: ingestion pipelines, time-series and analytical stores, query engines and the surfacing layer that turns telemetry into operational decisions and customer-facing products.
Market Integration & Regulatory Engineering
Wholesale, ancillary and capacity market participation, including five-minute settlement, frequency control and the regulatory adaptation needed to take a platform from one jurisdiction to another.
Common shapes of the work.
Engagements vary, but most of our energy work falls into one of these patterns. If you recognise yourself here, we have a starting position.
The connectivity layer into OEM hardware, the optimisation engine earning wholesale and ancillary revenue, the customer-facing app and the integrations into retail and dispatch operations. Built to participate in markets in real time.
Potential outcome
A retailer-owned VPP operating across PV, BESS and EVs at residential and commercial scale.
The data layer that turns dispatch decisions into market revenue - data lake, optimisation engine, market participation logic, portfolio decision framework and the build roadmap that takes it from blueprint to production.
Potential outcome
A greenfield BESS portfolio with an operating model and decision framework in place before the first MW comes online.
The cloud platform behind connected hardware - telemetry ingestion, command-and-control, customer apps and the integrations into retailers, aggregators and market operators.
Potential outcome
A manufacturer-owned platform that turns shipped hardware into a software relationship with the end customer.
Orchestration platforms for DER fleets owned by retailers, aggregators or homeowners but operated for network services. Demand response, frequency control, dynamic operating envelopes and the consent and onboarding logic that makes scale possible.
Potential outcome
A network-owned orchestration capability that supports grid services without owning the assets.
Multi-tenant fleet management, market participation across wholesale, FCAS and capacity products, real-time dispatch and the trading discipline that extracts revenue from heterogeneous assets across vendors and ownership structures.
Potential outcome
Multi-tenant fleet management and market participation across wholesale, FCAS and capacity products at fleet-of-fleets scale.
Architecture review, replatforming roadmap, integrations into new asset classes or markets and the AI overlay that adds capability without rewriting the core. Zero-downtime migrations from production stacks where they are needed.
Potential outcome
A platform shipping new capability without breaking the customers running on the old one.
Built to earn trust quickly - then grow the partnership from there.
Engagements range from a four-week scoped piece of work to multi-year embedded delivery. We pick the shape that fits the problem; both sides commit long-term only after a scoped first engagement has earned it.
Project-Based
Defined scope and outcome typically four to twelve weeks. Discovery sprints, architecture reviews, regulatory readiness, integration builds, market participation pilots. Acceptance criteria you can hold us to.
Embedded Team
10x Labs engineers and product team embedded in your delivery rhythm. Typical shape is two to six people working alongside your team for three months and up, sized and shaped to the work.
Strategic Partnership
For the right partnerships, we align our incentives with your outcomes. Typically multi-year, with shared accountability for what the platform achieves, not just what it ships. Fee-for-equity where it makes sense.
Fit evaluation
Discovery call
Scoped engagement
Ongoing partnership
